Make Biological Compost with Me

Join me at my homestead in the Uxbridge forests and get hands-on with building a thermal aerobic compost according to Dr. Elaine Ingham's Soil Food Web School methods. Participants take-home some finished biologically complete compost or claim some from the group pile at a later date.

About the event
Welcome to our 3rd Community Composting Event! We have composting events in the past with Casey and Keisha (Catalyst Bioamendments and Compost Academy) and in collaboration with Compost Toronto.
I have recently returned from a 10 day composting intensive workshop with the Soil Food Web School and am excited to share this knowledge in the Canadian context. Welcome to our 10 acre homestead, where we have been experimenting with composting and homesteading activities for 10 years. I specialize in thermal aerobic compost - both in towers and in piles - as well as Johnson-Su composting, vermicomposting and backyard composting (dalek bin style). I also have experience making compost tea/extracts, applying amendments, testing them using the microscope and in-field observation.
Everything we need to make great compost is supplied - all you have to do is bring gardening gloves (optional), your muscles, and a good attitude!

General Admission
This ticket includes 1.5 hours of presentation, 1.5 hours of active outdoors work, and 1hr of coffee/tea social and follow-up discussions. In addition, you will take home 2L of biologically complete compost and stay in the loop with follow-up analysis of the compost microbial analysis and monitoring log.
